This Site contains food medicine recipes for health using whole foods as the main ingredient for health care, body and beauty care. All the recipes offered here are given thoughtful consideration to its simplicity in application and the general availability of its ingredients.

Although generally safe, whole foods can also be potent. Test a small area for allergies or any reactions before treating  food medicine on the skin. If allergic to a food product, do not consume potions internally. Also make sure that kitchen products (such as blenders, strainers, cheesecloth, etc.) are thoroughly cleansed before using them for applications.

The general rule is to apply a treatment (or more) until symptoms vanish. This may take a day, a few days, a week, weeks or months. Be realistic, and use common sense. If an ailment has been around for ages, it is unrealistic to expect it to disappear overnight. There are usually more than one food medicine given for each particular ailment. Try out a treatment, and if not suitable, try another. Some ailments may require a change in diet, daily routine and lifestyle even, so take those into consideration. To benefit from home food treatments, you should apply it frequently, regularly and as needed. It is perfectly alright to utilize two or three medicinal recipes at a time. One remedy can often be shared for a few ailments, so you may see repetitions of remedies for different applications.

You're applying the treatments at your own risk. Food-med.com provides this database as a public service, and does not take responsibility for mishaps or counter-effects of treatments found herein. Always consult a professional medical consultant when in doubt.
