Migraine Headaches

Pain in the head above the eyes or the ears, behind the head (occipital), or in the back of the upper neck, being primary headaches. Migraine is a common primary headache.

  • Take 2 teaspoons honey at meals to prevent a headache or migraine.
  • For headaches due to tension in the neck and shoulders, massage with sesame oil, then take a hot shower.
  • Drink a glass of warm or cool water with 1 teaspoon of honey first thing in the morning everyday to prevent migraine headaches.
  • Soak black seed in vinegar overnight, pound it the next day to make powder. Insert in nostrils and inhale to relieve migraine headaches.
  • Drink the juice of ripe grapes to prevent migraine headaches.
  • Boil slowly 1:1 cider vinegar and water. Inhale its vapors to alleviate the headache, or add a few tablespoons apple cider vinegar to boiling water and inhale the steam for 5 minutes. Lie down and relax for 15 - 20 minutes. If the headache is not gone by then, repeat.
  • Fry black seed and put it in cotton-made cloth, tie around the head or simply put the cloth on the forehead, or boil ½ teaspoon black seed powder in 1 glass water and drink it. Or grind some black seeds in hot water, then use as paste.
  • Take 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel 1-3x in a day.
  • Place 1 tsp cardamom seeds on burning coal. Inhale the smoke, or boil freshly pounded cardamom seeds, remove from the fire and inhale the vapors.
  • Take 1 teaspoon honey dissolved in ½ glass warm water at the start of headache or migraine. Repeat in 20 minutes if necessary.
  • Remove the upper rind and inner hard part of an apple. Eat the apple with a little of salt every morning on an empty stomach.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons heated sesame oil with ½ teaspoon each powdered cardamom and cinnamon, to be applied on the head.
  • Rub the top of the head and soles of the feet gently with sesame oil before retiring at night.
  • Mix 1 tsp grounded cinnamon in 1 teaspoon water and apply to the forehead.
  • Paste a crushed and mashed onion on the headache.
  • Apply 1 tsp fresh mint leaf juice, or sandalwood paste for ½ hour on the forehead to reduce temperature. Then wash off.
  • Make paste out of equal amounts sandalwood and coriander seed powder, then apply on the headache.
  • Apply fresh juice from coriander leaves on the migraine or headache areas.
  • Make paste out of dry ginger or ginger powder, and apply to the forehead for about ½ hour. Then wash off, avoiding the eye area.
