Jaundice
Jaundice is yellowing of the skin and eyes caused by the liver not working properly or when a bile duct is
blocked.

For jaundice treatment, have adequate rest, adopt a proper diet and engage in exercise to relieve of
the symptoms. Fast for a week on juicy fruit juices of beet, carrot, lemon, grapes, pear and sugarcane.
Once the condition improves, adopt a diet along these lines: Drink a glass of warm water mixed with 2
teaspoons of lime juice first thing in the morning upon rising, for breakfast: 1 fresh fruit,
whole wheat bread and butter, for lunch: 2 wholemeal bread, 1cup strained vegetable soup, steamed leafy
vegetable and 1 glass buttermilk. For dinner, 2 wholemeal bread with a little butter, baked potato, 1
other leafy vegetable and a glass of hot milk. Orange juice can be taken mid-morning and the same or
coconut water be taken for mid-afternoon.

Drink lots of water with lemon juice added to protect damaged liver cells due to jaundice.

Avoid all fats in the form of butter, cream and oils for a minimum 2 weeks and possibly thereafter.
Avoid constipation, and the intake of foods like legumes and
pulses which has the tendency to putrefy in the lower intestines, aggravating jaundice.

Pound 1 lb green leaves of radish and squeeze of its juice through a clean muslin cloth. Drink it to
create a healthy appetite and proper movement of bowels, bringing jaundice relief.

Take ½ teaspoon grounded black seed with 1 glass milk.

Mix equal parts powdered black pepper and cassia leaves. Mix with some water and take 2x daily.

Mix 2 teaspoons each the juices of basil and radish. Add jaggery (brown sugar of the palm) to
sweeten. Drink the mixture 2-3x daily for a month.

Keep pomegranate overnight in an utensil made of iron. Cover it with a thin cloth. One tablespoon
of the juice to be taken with sugar candy in the morning. Repeat regularly in the jaundice treatment.

Ground tender papaya leaves into paste and take ½ teaspoon with ¼ cup water.

Other measures : Apply hot and cold compresses 10x for one minute at a time. Repeat every 5 hours. Take
regular moderate exercises and get frequent exposure to the sun and fresh air to prevent recurrence of
jaundice.
